Now YOU know! Have you been lurking for months, perhaps years? Think of what you have learned in that period. Elders, how do you hold it it in. Whom can you help with what you know? How can you help one another to "bow out" gracefully...WITH your loved ones? How can you help the rest of us trying to fade without DA? We love you for being here... We all want to be free of the mind control.

Say You're a Bethelite & Monitoring JWD - How Would You Feel About THESE??
by Seeker4 ini'm talking about the new posters, like kitten whiskers, who started posting today (hope this works: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/120817/1.ashx).
and it seems like we're getting a few like this nearly every day.
people who were raised jws, really worry that they are doing the right thing in leaving, yet who have been made to feel not good enough by the wts, who felt they never measured up, who struggled with it, but came to realize that what they'd been brought up to believe was just not the truth.. the same stories are told over and over again, and they come from sincere, good people - not whiny, fault-finding apostates like the rest of us riffraff around here!

Amazing thread...perhaps the best ever. What a joy to hear from elders, just to confirm that they are here, not swallowing the whole mess being presented to them. I am loving this...

What were the best Watchtower years?
by JH induring what period of time did they have some credibility and were they most active and making the most money?.
around here, when i joined back in 1987, there were so many pioneers in the congregation and they were in the field service morning, afternoon and evening.
that lasted about 5 years, then it was a quick and steady decline in field service and a decline in building new halls.

What I have always said is that the best years were when it was all possible... When 1975 seemed like a possibility. Even when that year passed, we just thought it was a little late... In my 30+ years as a witness, the glory days ended in the mid to late 80's...
Life in the org. was different then. There was lots of love to go around. Families cared for one another. Many pioneers. It felt as though we were part of a "spiritual paradise". Yes, it all seemed possible...
Those days are long gone... We have been duped.

Why did you leave 'the love you had at first'?

I truly loved EVERYTHING back in the 80's... I found no faults with the org. Granted 1975 passed, but we still thought it would be soon...just a couple of years late. And don't you think the org. was different then? Well, the WORLD was different too. Where I was, there was so much love, caring and unity. Lots of association, parties, caring for each other... most wives didn't work outside the home and the ministry. They were busy cooking, cleaning and caring for their children and of course the FS. Life, to me, then was idyllic. BUT...the big but...we were trained to never look beyond the soc. literature. I questioned nothing. I studied, what I considered to be deeply, only to support the orgs doctrine.
As the years passed, the world changed, the org, changed, and so did I. Now, the love at first has faded because I fee that we all have been duped, by a self serving money machine. So sad... MOVE ON!

From the platform...
"worldly people" - as opposed to ones who are not JW's, sounds Amish to me
"true Christians" - self designated
"the Society" - is that the same society Fred Flintstone belonged to, cultish for sure
"the Mother" - referring to GB back at Bethel? or
"listen to the Mother" - what?
"the branch office says" - that's a wierd one. Does that just mean here in the US?
Millions more. I will have to do some thinking...

Hello all. I need your help in locating a thread from July'ish. We have a fellow poster who could really benefit from it.
It was a thread from a brother who patiently waited to bring his wife out with him. He went to meetings and did his best to not disturb his wife. It worked! WHO WAS THAT? I have been pouring over pages for days trying to find it. I respect and adimire this unknown, patient brother. Please help me if you can. I will refer the page over to a new poster in the same spot.
I do appreciate your help. SS

Sitting at my desk in my office... Living less than an hour away made us all vulnerable to knowing someone directly affected, and I did. Thankfully, these ones survived. One was IN THE TOWER and ran all the way to Brooklyn... The phones stopped ringing and business was done for the day,,, at 8:46am, We all stayed together in silence with an ear to the news and to console one another. I frantically made phone calls to determine the whereabouts of ones I knew and loved. Schools were dismissed with many teachers prepared to stay overnight with children DIRECTLY affected, with unaccounted for parents.
The world, as we knew it, was forever changed in a matter of minutes... We will NEVER forget.

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.

Worse yet...What Kind of Things Did I Ban From MY Children?
They were young in the late 80's... NONE of the following...
Scooby-Do, Smurfs, Troll dolls, unicorns, anything "lucky"... school mate sleepovers, skirts above the knees, any activity that interfered with Saturday mornings..., reading novels that were their own choice, only "easy listening music' on the radio...Magic 101", no PG-13 movies, just PG, NO DATING.
School activities, sports, drama, debate, school dances and proms, musical intruments except piano lessons from a witness at home, of course no flag salute and national anthem,
Though I was doing my best at the time... they think their childhood was pretty bad. One is an active Witness and two are not. No one is at all concerned about those things now...especially me.

I think of some of the nicest, kindest, people/sheep in the world. There may not be a better group of people being led right off the cliff... Sheep in the sense of following blindly. It is difficult for me to leave because of these truly good people who don't have a clue...
